PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer team was unable to overcome an early penalty kick goal in a 1-0 setback to Texas-Permian Basin on Thursday night at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium in Portales. The loss moves the Greyhounds to 2-5-1 on the season and 1-4-0 in Heartland Conference action.

Eastern peppered UTPB's keeper, Alec Sproule all evening, firing 20 shots with five on goal and 15 shots alone in the second half of the match. Senior
Ryan McManus led the charge, taking seven shots of his own in the setback.
Ignacio Dicun and
Omary Shabani also added three and two shots, respectively. The Green and Silver tallied seven corner kicks in the match, but were unable to manufacture a goal on any of the set pieces.

In the 18
th-minute, Eastern was called for a handball in the penalty box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Falcons. Tainan Bagetti beat
Ryan Flores in goal, going right while Flores went left to break the scoring seal. UTPB only mustered three shots on goal the remainder of the match with none coming in the second half.

McManus broke free numerous times in the second half, but was unable to capitalize on any of the opportunities. Eastern thought it had pushed in the equalizer in the 86
th-minute, but was called offsides to negate the score.
