DENTON, TEXAS —Junior point guard scored 13 of her career 16 points in the first half, as the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (10-3; LSC 6-0) rallied from a seven-point deficit at Texas Woman's. The Hounds overcame a slow start and a wild finish, to hold on for a 60-49 win over the Pioneers (10-4; LSC 3-3) at Kitty Magee Arena.
The win snapped a six-game skid for ENMU in the series. The Hounds last win over TWU came by an 80-70 score, also on the road. Eastern is now 28-22 against the Pioneers, with a 13-13 mark in Denton. The win also was Head Coach
Josh Prock's 20
th in Lone Star Conference play. The win gave ENMU its first 6-0 start in league play since the 1998-99 season. Eastern is also 4-0 on the road in league play.
How the Game Turned
- Texas Woman's took a 7-0 lead on Alexis Nezianya's layup midway through the first quarter
- Johna McClelland's layup at the 3:32 mark gave ENMU its first points
- Hotchkins hit a running jumper as time expired in the first quarter to give ENMU its first lead, 9-7
- ENMU's run of 26-0 lasted 8:21 and concluded on a Mikaehla Connor layup
- Eastern started the game 0-10 from the floor, but shot 12-24 the remainder of the first half
- The Pioneers used a 12-0 run in the third quarter to close within five points, but could come no closer as Eastern held on for the win
Beyond the Box
- For the eighth time in the last nine games the Greyhounds hit at least five three-point baskets
- Kassandra Harris poured in 10 of her 12 points in the second half
- Eastern out rebounded and held an edge in shooting percentage over the opposition for the fourth straight game
- McClelland had her fourth multiple-block game of the season

- Hotchkins shot 5-7 from the floor and dished out three assists
- McClelland grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds and finished with seven points and a pair of blocks
- Harris poured in 12 points and grabbed six boards
