PORTALES, NM —On Friday morning the Lone Star Conference released its All-Academic Indoor Track & Field Teams prior to the start of the conference championships in Alamosa, Colo. The Eastern New Mexico University teams were well represented by Ezra Bagwell and
Melina Gryschka.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting based on both academic and athletic achievement.

Her time of 4:51 in the one-mile is currently tied for eighth in the nation and leads the LSC. Gryschka also registered the third-best time in the league in the 800m, with a finish of 2:14.53 at the New Mexico Classic.
Bagwell, an electronics engineering major, ranks sixth in the LSC in the heptathlon, with a score of 4,362, at the Colorado-Mines Invitational. He also ranks in the league's top 25 in the pole vault (15th, 13'-9.25"), high jump (18th, 5'-9.25"), and 60-meter hurdles (23rd, 9.00).
