PORTALES, NM — With a the third 20-win season in team history and a two-game lead for first place in the Lone Star Conference, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (20-5; LSC 16-2) continued to receive recognition in the national polls. After sweeping a two-game road trip last week, Eastern ranked 18
th in the Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll sponsored by D2SIDA. ENMU also appeared in the receiving votes section in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll.
After ranking 21
st in last week's media poll, the Greyhounds jumped to 18
th with wins over Midwestern State and Cameron. Fellow LSC competitor Angelo State ranked 24
th in the poll. The Hounds received 16 votes in the coaches' poll.
The Greyhounds already have posted their most wins in a season (20) since going 23-5 in the 1992-93 season. The squad's has also won a team-record 16 LSC games. Eastern's 10 home victories are the most since going 10-4 at Greyhound Arena in the 2006-07 season.
The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, against Angelo State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MST. Tickets for the LSC Championships will be sold in Greyhound Arena at a reduced rate during the ASU game, and Saturday's regular-season finale against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
