PORTALES, NM — After splitting a pair of Lone Star Conference games last week, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team ranked third in the latest Division II South Central Media Poll. With a 16-5 overall record and 12-2 league mark. Last week, the Hounds rallied for a win at Tarleton State, before suffering their second road loss of the season, at Texas A&M-Commerce.
The poll marked the ninth consecutive appearance for ENMU in the regional poll. Eastern was joined by fellow Lone Star Conference competitors Angelo State (2
nd), West Texas A&M (4
th), and Texas A&M-Commerce (8
th). Colorado State Pueblo remained undefeated and held the top spot in the poll.
The Greyhounds already have posted their most wins in a season (16) since going 16-12 in the 2003-04 season, which also as the last time the team reached double figures in LSC wins (10-4). The squad also has matched its record for conference wins in a season.
The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, to host Western New Mexico University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MST.
