PORTALES, NM — After a stellar performance to open the outdoor season at University of Arizona's Willie Williams Invitational, the Eastern New Mexico University men's track & field team has garnered attention. The Greyhounds are ranked fifth in the first United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association poll, which is believed to be their highest ranking of the NCAA Division II era at ENMU.

Eastern is joined by fellow Lone Star Conference competitors Angelo State (4th), Texas A&M-Kingsville (6th), and Texas A&M-Commerce (7th), in the poll. The LSC was ranked second in the Conference Index Top Ten.

Last weekend, the Greyhound men's team set team records in the 4x100 relay, 800m run, 1,500m run, high jump and long jump. The quartet of Jacques Hall, Avery Rasher, Julian Coronado, and Marcus Parker edged University of Arizona for first place in the 4x100m relay and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships. Parker also won both the 100 and 200m dashes, and provisionally qualified for the championship meet.

The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams will return to action on Saturday, to compete in the Bobby Lane Invitational. The event will be hosted by University of Texas-Arlington.
