Aguilar Grabs LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Award

PORTALES, NM – Eastern New Mexico University volleyball senior libero Andrea Aguilar earned the Lone Star Conference's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Award, the league office announced on Tuesday. The Clovis, NM, product enters the 2017 campaign needing 578 digs to match Caitlin Murphy's program record of 1,930, set from 2006-09. Last season, Aguilar garnered second-team All-Conference accolades with a career-high 533 digs.

The Greyhounds were picked to finish sixth in the LSC, receiving 233 points in the preseason poll.

"I'm very happy for Andrea," ENMU Head Coach Sia Poyer said. "She's very deserving because she's worked so hard to get to where she is today. I have high expectations for her for this year as a captain and a senior. She's a big part of our team."
