At the time of induction, Bobby Kirkley was still is the second leading career scorer for the Hounds' basketball team after two decades and still held the single-game record for points (50), set against New Mexico Highlands on January 31, 1978. Following the 1975-76 season, he received the Al Garten Award. He was the leading scorer in the nation, averaging 30.9 points over 19 games and made third team small college all American in 1977. Following the 1977-78 season, he was named Greatest Greyhound.
