Eastern New Mexico University Athletics

Dale Saxton came to ENMU from nearby Melrose, NM, and was a multi-sport athlete. After he enrolled at Eastern in 1951 he was a four-year letterman in track &field and three years in basketball. Saxton claimed six conference titles in track & field which included four in the javelin and a pair in the high jump. In 1954 he took 15^th in the National AAU Decathlon. In 1955 Saxton placed in the pole vault (3^rd), high jump (4^th) and javelin (5^th) at the NAIA National Championships.
