After graduating from Eastern Michigan in 1955, Dick Dart founded the first varsity swim team at Grand Haven High School where he served for nine years. After a stint as assistant swim coach at Flint JC in 1964 he earned his Master’s Degree at University of Michigan where he served as head coach. Dart came to ENMU in 1967 and served as the Director of Intramurals and Campus Recreation and swimming & diving coach. He led the Hounds to an 18th-place finish in the NAIA National Swimming Championships in 1972. Dart also served as an assistant professor and natatorium director.
