Dr. James Ray was a member of the Greyhound football and track teams from 1959-62. He was the Greatest Greyhound in 1962 and made the Academic Little All-American Football team from 1961-62. After ENMU he continued his education at the Baylor College of Medicine and the Aero-Space Medical Institute. Ray became a flight surgeon with the Unites States Navy from 1967-69 before becoming a family physician in Hobbs in 1969.
