Dr. W. Firman Haynie played offensive tackle for the Greyhound football team from 1938-41. He was team captain in 1940 and 1941 and made All-New Mexico Athletic Conference over those seasons. Haynie was selected for Who’s Who on the Campus 1938-42, Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities 1940-42 and Who’s Who in American Education 1956-70. He was Student Body President in 1940-41.
