Jerry Blakely played football for four seasons (1957-61) under ENMU legends Carl Richardson and B.B. Lees. He received the “Hardest Running Back” Award in 1960 and 1961, and was Chosen Most Valuable Player in 1961. Blakely held numerous coaching and administrative positions and was inducted into the Texas High School Association Hall of Honor. Among his honors were six selections as Texas AAA Coach of the Year by the Lubbock Avalanche Journal.
