Larry Vanzant was regarded as an outstanding guard on the 1969 NAIA Championship basketball team which posted a 23-7 record under Head Coach Harry Miller. He was given the “Best Hustler” Award for the NAIA National Basketball Tournament, which consisted of 32 teams. Vanzant set an ENMU record with 16 assists in a game and 226 in the 1969-70 season.
