Major Ron Milam played guard for the ENMU basketball team during the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons. He ranked second in the Lone Star Conference in assists both seasons and led the Hounds to a 34-24 record. Milam also served in the United States Army. He was the military assistant to one of the deputy assistant secretaries of the Army. Milam was killed while in military service during a terrorist attack on the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. His dedication, loyalty and commitment to freedom led to the establishment of the Major Ron D. Milam Memorial Scholarship Fund at ENMU.
