Rick Purvis came to ENMU in the fall of 1963 and went on to earn All-American honors for the swimming & diving team in all four years. His All-American laurels came in several freestyle events. After leaving Eastern he taught for one year in Denver, before entering school administration in Clovis in 1971 as an assistant principal. In 1980 he became Clovis High School Principal and was elevated to Superintendent in 1986. Purvis remained active at ENMU through the Alumni Board and ENMU-Clovis Community Advisory Board.
