Steve Loy played linebacker for the Greyhound football team and was also a member of the golf team. After he graduated in 1974, he went on to become the golf coach at Arizona State. Loy also had coaching stints at Scottsdale Community College (1975-83) and University of Arkansas (1983-87). Among his professional honors were NJCAA Arizona Coach of the Year from 1978-83, NJCAA National Coach of the Year in 1982 and 1983, Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1985, PAC 10 Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1990 and 1990 NCAA Coach of the Year, Loy coached three national championship teams.
