Andrew McCraw begins his seventh year at Eastern New Mexico as the school's offensive line coach and run game coordinator and has been an integral part of the Greyhounds' rise as one of the nation's premier rushing attacks.
The 2019 season was a banner year for the Eastern New Mexico offensive line unit as they paved the way for a school record 4,181 yards, ranking second in all of Division II football in the category. All five primary starters along the line as well as tight end Tyler Lynch were named All-Conference recipients under the tutelage of coach McCraw.
Junior Vili Fisiaahi was named a Second Team All-American by the Don Hansen Football Committee after leading the unit all season long and a Second Team All-Lone Star Conference selection.
The Hounds led the Lone Star Conference with an average of 348.4 rushing yards per contest, over 100 yards more per game than the next closest team, and led the nation with an average time of possession of 35:13. They ran for 500 yards or more on two different occasions throughout the season, and allowed senior Paul Terry to break the school record for rushing yards in a single season with 1,888 yards for the year.
During the 2018 season, McCraw mentored an offensive line that produced the fourth-best rushing attack in the nation, averaging 284.5 yards per game. Under McCraw's guidance, three lineman were selected to the All-Lone Star Conference team, including Second Team selection Mister Birdo as well as honorable mention selections in Isaiah Callahan and Caleb Ortiz.
The Lovington, New Mexico native returned to ENMU prior to the 2017 season and helped lead the Hounds to an 8-2 record in his first season back in Portales. McCraw also oversees the academic success of the Hounds as the program's Academic Coordinator and guided Eastern to the highest team GPA in the conference during the 2017 season.
McCraw's on the field presence led the Hounds to the nation's number one rushing offense in the country (352.7 yards per game) in 2017 and allowed tailback Kamal Cass to finish the season ranked eighth in the nation in total rushing yards (1,443 yards). Three of McCraw's offensive lineman received All-LSC recognition, led by two First Team selections in Josh Bongiovanni and Isaiah Talbert as well as a Second Team honoree Lane Cummings.
A former player in his own right and an ENMU alum, McCraw rejoined the coaching staff at Eastern following one season as the head football coach at Socorro High School in 2016. Prior to his time at Socorro, McCraw spent the 2012-14 seasons as the Hound's graduate assistant offensive line/tight ends coach and academic coordinator.
Under his direction, six different Hounds earned all-conference recognition along the offensive line and tight end units. His leadership in the trenches helped the Hounds to overall records of 7-3 and 7-4 in 2013-14, the first back-to-back winning seasons for the program since the 2003-04 campaigns.
Prior to joining the college coaching ranks, McCraw served as the Assistant Head Coach and offensive/defensive line coach at Valencia High School from 2009-12. He got his coaching career started back in his hometown of Lovington during the 2008 season.
McCraw started his collegiate career at New Mexico Highlands University, with a stop at New Mexico Military Insititute, and finished at ENMU in 2009. He currently holds two degrees from ENMU, an undergraduate degree in Special Education which he received in 2009, and a Master's Degree in Physical Education, as well as an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from NMMI.
McCraw resides in Portales with his dog "Dubs".
