ENMU TAILGATING GUIDELINES
Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium seats 4,000 fans, and had its grand opening on September 10, 2016. The opening saw the Hounds earn a 37-16 win in Lone Star Conference action against the Western New Mexico Mustangs.The stadium replaced the Blackwater Draw site which was used from 1968-2015. In the summer of 2024, the stadium was renamed to the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium (originally Greyhound Stadium) following a $2.5 million donation from from alumnus Steve and Linda Loy '74.
The stadium features lighting to enable ENMU to play several night games each year and numerous air conditioned press boxes. the field will be made of UBU turf; the same surface which has been used for at least two Superbowls. The track will be similar to the one at the University of New Mexico.
The multi-purpose facility will also provide the ability to hold soccer games at night and home events for the track & field teams. It also will be utilized by the Greyhound Sound marching band, health & physical education department, and Portales High School.
The press box at GSteve Loy Family Foundation Stadium has media and statistics rooms, plus booths for coaches from both teams, home and visiting radio stations, television stations, scoreboard operator and public address announcer. All stadium seating is elevated above field level.
