PORTALES, N.M. — After Tuesday's contest against Northern New Mexico College, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will head to Florida, to take on Florida Southern and University of Tampa, from the Sunshine State Conference. As of Monday, Tampa was tied for first place in the South Region Media poll, sponsored by D2SIDA. Tampa was 15^th in the national poll, release last week.
 
The Zias are coming off a 74-70 win over defending Heartland Conference champion Texas A&M-International, which gives head coach Josh Prock the opportunity to tie Patti Guerra at nine wins on the ENMU list. Guerra coached the Zias during the 1974 and 1975 seasons, which included six victories in the initial year of play for the program.

Since the 2010-11 season, only Precious Herrin (16 ppg) has averaged more points per contest than Tori Tucker (Sr., F, Portales, N.M./Floyd HS/Howard College) (11.8). Jordyn Cooper (Jr., G, Texico, N.M./Texico HS) has been the top three-point shooter over that span, with a .362 shooting percentage and 100 three-point buckets. Tucker also is the program's top rebounder over those years, with 6.7 per game, while Jasmine Johnson (Sr., P, DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto HS) leads the team with 429 total rebounds.
 
Last season, ENMU posted a record of 6-20, with a 4-12 mark in Lone Star Conference play.

• Four of the Zias five losses this season have come by a combined 17 points, with the largest margin being nine points against Texas-Permian Basin.
• Eastern has only been outrebounded twice this season, against Colorado-Mines and Lubbock Christian.
• In five of seven games, ENMU has held a halftime lead.

Florida Southern boasts a record of 5-2 headed into Thursday's contest against Eastern and has won two straight over Embry Riddle, Palm Beach Atlantic and Young Harris. FSC's two losses came on the road to Valdosta State and Georgia Southwestern.
 
Last year, the Mocs posted a 7-20 record and finished ninth in the Sunshine State Conference with a record of 2-14. Florida Southern dropped a 69-61 decision to #16 Rollins in the opening round of the conference tournament.

Entering the week, University of Tampa is 6-1 on the season, with the lone setback coming to Western Washington.
 
Last season Tampa finished 24-7 and won the SSC with a 14-2 record. The Spartans earned a win over St. Leo in the conference tournament, but fell to Nova Southeastern in the SSC championship and NCAA South Regional championship games.
