Sarah Stinnett (Fort Sumner, N.M./Howard College) </strong>exploded for 20 points for the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (6-11; LSC 2-5) in Saturday afternoon's Lone Star Conference setback to visiting Tarleton State (10-5; LSC 4-3) at Greyhound Arena. She had 14 points and four rebounds for the Zias in the second half.<br /> <br />In the second 20-point performance of her career, Stinnett shot a sizzling .526 (10-19) from the floor. Both 20-point games came at home, with the other coming against Midwestern State. Both the 10 field goals and 19 attempts were also career highs. The game also marked the fifth time she led the Zias in scoring.<br /> <br />The lead changed five times in the first half of play, with ENMU taking its final lead ,6-5 on a short jumper from Stinnett, before junior forward <strong>
Tori Tucker (Portales, N.M./Floyd HS/Howard College) </strong>wrapped up a fast break attempt with a trey, to give the Zias a four-point advantage less than three minutes into the game. A Bailey Wipff jumper ignited a 6-0 run by the TexAnns to take the lead, although the Zias managed to knot the game at 11-all on a jumper from Stinnett. After an exchange of baskets, Megan O'Dell's trey sparked a 15-2 Tarleton State run over the ensuing 4:56 of play, to extend their lead to 29-15 with 8:06 left in the opening half. The teams went to their locker rooms with the TexAnns holding a 37-23 lead.<br /> <br />Early in the second half, a three-point play from Ipeaku Iwobi gave the TexAnns their largest lead of the game, 40-23 with 18:54 left. Stinnett answered with a layup and scored six of Eastern's point in a 10-3 run, to pull ENMU within 43-33 with 15:49 to play. After TSU rebuilt a 14-point lead, <strong>
Cassidy Doherty (Jr., G, Folsom, N.M./Melrose HS) </strong>hit a trey to ignite a 7-0 run, capped by a fast break three-point bucket from <strong>
Jordyn Cooper (Jr., G, Texico, N.M./Texico HS), </strong>to pull the Zias within 57-50 with 4:57 left. Eastern could come no closer and Tarleton State held on for the win.<br /> <br />The Zias held a 10-point edge in points scored in the paint. Eastern hit seven of its nine free throw attempts, while the TexAnns converted all 12 tries at the charity stripe. Tucker scored seven points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists, while Doherty finished with eight points. Bailey Wipff shot eight-for-nine from the floor for Tarleton State and finished with 21 points. Iwobi chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds.<br /> <br />The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will continue their home stand, next Saturday, when they play West Texas A&M. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MT.<br />
