STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team's season came to an end Thursday, losing their first round matchup of the Lone Star Conference Tournament to the No. 1 seeded Tarleton State University, 3-1 (19-25, 17-25, 25-23, 13-25).
Plagued by attacking errors all night, the Greyhounds (13-20, 4-12) could never quite catch up with the TexAnns (26-5, 15-1 LSC), falling behind by as many as 10 points in some sets. On the night Eastern hit .022 on the attack, recording 35 errors to Tarleton's 21.
Lauren Frye recorded a game-high 15 kills while Brooklyn Biel and Courtney Lawson both chipped in with seven apiece. Andrea Aguilar was the only player with over 10 digs, recording 12 on the night.
The third set saw the Hounds keep the gap close, with the score being tied a match high 12 times and it saw three lead changes. ENMU never trailed by more than two points in the set, and tied at 22-22 took advantage of the surge to close out the set with the win.
The fourth set saw a somewhat renewed Tarleton team, with the TexAnns taking a commanding lead early and only allowing the Greyhounds to take the lead once. After tying the score at 2-2, Eastern was held to only 11 additional points as Tarleton went on to take the set 25-13.
The Greyhounds moved to 10-17 against the TexAnns, with their last win coming Sept. 27, 2014.
