LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Showing flashes of greatness and good things to follow, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team put up quite a fight in their exhibition Saturday, falling to Div. I Texas Tech University 77-43 after a close first half.

The Greyhounds jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, retaining their lead for just under six minutes before the Red Raiders tied the game at 14 apiece heading into the second quarter.  The second quarter saw Tech shoot close to 50 percent from the field while ENMU went cold, hitting only 4-of-14 field goals.

Eastern's sure handed defense kept them in the contest however, with the Red Raiders coughing the ball up 13 times in the first half.  Senior standout Sarah Stinnett had things going in the first half, sinking three shots for six points to keep the Hounds within 10 heading into the locker room.

The third period saw a renewed Tech team, with the Big 12 team coming out and hitting a scorching 85 percent of their field goals and outscoring ENMU 28-13.  Into the fourth and down by 25, the Hounds managed to hold the Red Raiders to 16 points and finish the game 77-43.  Eastern forced Tech to record 23 turnovers on the day.

Stinnett led Eastern on offense, finishing with 13 points.  Miranda Moore and Brianna White chipped in with six and five points, respectively.

The women's basketball team will head to Tuscon, Ariz., to take on another Div. I team in their second exhibition to start the season, facing off against the University of Arizona.  The game is Tuesday, Nov. 10, with tip off at 7:00 p.m. (MT)
