WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS —
Jasmine Johnson (Sr., P, DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto HS) paced the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (8-14; LSC 4-8) with 14 points, nine rebounds and a pair of steals in Saturday afternoon's Lone Star Conference game against 14
th-ranked Midwestern State (19-4; LSC 10-3) at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Zias dropped a 94-46 decision to the Mustangs, but blocked six shots in the game, one away from their season high.
The Mustangs opened the game on a 19-2 run over the first 5:22 of play and never trailed. Eastern managed to pull within 15 points on a jumper from
Jaylyn Cooper (Jr., G, Texico, N.M./Texico HS), but could come no closer as Midwestern State pulled away for the win.
Sarah Stinnett (Jr., G, Fort Sumner, N.M./Howard College) added 12 points, while
Tori Tucker (Portales, N.M./Floyd HS/Howard College) chipped in six points. Andrea Carter paced the Mustangs with 17 points and nine rebounds.
The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Texas A&M-Commerce. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT.
