LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Eastern New Mexico University's track and field team had four top five finishes at the Texas Tech Open on Friday, with two athletes finishing as high as third place.
Ally Salata finished third in the women's javelin with a throw of 39.96 meters.
Laura Grube (Jr., Crow, Ore. / Crow High School) placed fourth in the event with a throw of 38.33 meters.
On the men's side,
Tanaka Pfupajena had a third place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.22 meters. In the women's hammer throw
Jenae' Wolfram (Jr., Bosque Farms, N.M. / Valencia High School) threw 43.48 meters for a fifth place finish.
Clarissa Salazar (Jr., Tucson, Ariz. / Tucson Magnet High School) and
Ally Salata (So., Albuquerque, N.M. / Rio Rancho High School) also competed in the hammer throw, finishing eighth and tenth respectively.
Karissa Stinson (Fr., Rio Rancho, N.M. / Rio Rancho High School) finished eighth in the javelin as well.
The team continues the competition tomorrow in Lubbock, with the second day of the Texas Tech Open.
