Thursday's contest marks Eastern's fifth trip to the LSC Championships. ENMU first qualified for the postseason in 2006, when Nicole Bregler scored in a 4-1 loss against Texas A&M-Commerce. Jenna Sievers scored in the 2014 contest against 20th-ranked Angelo State. The only other time ENMU faced the same opponent in the regular-season finale and tournament opener, came in the 2006 season.

The Greyhounds split two games in Commerce this season. In late September, ENMU dropped a 2-0 decision to Texas A&M-Commerce. They bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Texas Woman's in a game which had to be relocated from Denton, Texas, due to weather conditions. Tori Hendrickson tallied the game-winning goal on a penalty kick, while Mirka Zamarripa added an insurance goal.
