PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (2-2) sprinted to an 8-0 lead against New Mexico Highlands (1-2) and never looked back, en-route to a 75-48 victory.
Sarina Johnson paced four Greyhounds in double figures with 15 points, Tuesday night at Greyhound Arena.
With the win, Eastern moved to 36-8 in the series against the Cowgirls, with a 22-1 mark at home.
The Turning Point
- Daeshi McCants rebound and put back of her own shot nine seconds into the game gave ENMU a lead it would not relinquish
- ENMU scored the first eight points of the game and never let NMHU closer than six points the rest of the way
Beyond the Box Score
- Eastern's 19 points allowed in the opening half were the fewest since allowing 18 against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on November 15, 2014
- The Greyhounds held Highlands to .154 from the floor in the opening half, with just two field goals in each of the first two quarters

- ENMU dominated the paint with a 48-12 advantage

The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will return to action next Thursday, to open Lone Star Conference competition at University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MT.
