CANYON, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico University softball team scored the charged to a three-run lead and held on for a 3-1 win over Adams State (2-8), Saturday at the WT Invitational.
Morgan Green and
Erikka Burke each provided a pair of base hits as the Greyhounds earned a victory at Buffalo Sports Park.
The win improved Eastern to 12-4 overall against the Grizzlies, with a 5-1 mark at neutral-site fields. ENMU has won the last two meetings in the series. Eastern scored all three runs after Adams State registered two outs.
Susannah Chandler drew a two-out walk in the top of the first and moved to second after an error. Burke delivered an RBI single to center field to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead. Green and Burke singled one out into the ENMU third inning, before
Simone Laurenz drew a walk to load the bases. After a strikeout, Marleyna Piñon and
Natasha Kissell drew walks to force in runs.
The Grizzlies scored their lone run on a two-out single from Kalin Johnson.
Aja Secheslingloff a two-hit Adams State and fanned eight batters to earn her second win of the season. Eastern held a 5-2 edge in hits and played an error-free game in the field.
The Eastern New Mexico University softball team will conclude play at the WT Invitational tomorrow, with a game against Chadron State. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.
