SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Daniel Ward hit his conference leading fifth home run of the season in Eastern New Mexico baseball team's 11-6 loss to Point Loma Friday.
The Greyhounds (5-2) found themselves trailing 3-0 early before finally putting some runs on the board in the top of the fourth off Justin Paul double and a Ward single. The Lions (5-3) weren't done though, driving in three runs in both the sixth and eighth innings to seal the deal at 11-6.
Ward led the day with three hits and three RBIs. Dylan Nault also recorded three hits while Paul added two.
Jerrot Gray was given his first loss of the season, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs and striking out three batters. The Hounds went deep into their bullpen late in the game, throwing five different relievers over the course of four and a half innings. Kiegan Basso pitched one full inning, allowing one run while striking out two batters.
ENMU will return to the field tomorrow for a double header with the Lions, with the first game slated for 12 p.m. (MT).
