Women's Soccer Set to Play CSU-Pueblo and University of the Southwest

PORTALES, N.M — After a two-match home stand, the Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team (0-2-1) will hit the road to face Colorado State-Pueblo, before they return home to face local rival, University of the Southwest.

In the Numbers
The Hounds played to a scoreless tie at Western State to open the season, behind an 11-save effort from junior goalkeeper Marissa Torres. The effort lifted the Hounds to their first non-loss in a season opener since the 2006 season. She currently has a .789 save percentage and 1.24 goals against average over three matches.
Offensively, Valeria Jaramillo leads ENMU with seven shots with four on goal. Jenna Sievers is right behind with six shots and three on goal.

Inside the Series
Eastern has a 1-1 record against Colorado State-Pueblo, with the home team winning both times. The series started on September 5, 2004, with a 2-0 setback in Pueblo, Colo. Goalkeeper Stephanie Sanchez made four saves in the game. Sanchez made five saves in the rematch to post a shutout, while Anna Funck scored twice. The game was played at ENMU Soccer Field on September 4, 2005. Coincidentally, the winning team scored one goal in each half, both games.

ENMU has a 3-3 record against University of the Southwest, with a 2-1 mark in home games.

About CSU-Pueblo
The Thunderwolves enter this week's contest with a 2-1 record and are on a two-match win streak. CSU-Pueblo is 1-1 against Lone Star Conference teams this season, with a 2-0 loss to Texas Woman's and a 2-0 win over Midwestern State.

University of the Southwest
 The Mustangs are looking for their first win after setbacks to St. Mary's, Arizona Christian, and Paul Quinn College. USW will host Dallas Christian before the trip to Portales.
