PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer program dropped a 4-1 decision to 17
th-ranked Midwestern State on Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas. The loss drops the Greyhounds to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Heartland Conference action.
The Green and Silver mustered only six shots with one on goal in the setback. Junior goalkeeper
James Gutierrez was tagged with the loss, making four saves in the effort.
Ryan McManus and Nicholai Alstrom paced the offensive effort with a pair of shots each.

After surrendering a goal in the 18
th-minute to Christian Okeke of the Mustangs, Eastern capitalized on an own goal by MSU to knot the match at one in the 22
nd-minute. The Mustangs would reclaim the lead for good in the 28
th-minute when Patrick Fitzgerald found the back of the net on a corner kick off a mad scramble in the box.

Despite the 4-1 score, the Greyhounds hung with the nation's 17
th-ranked team until surrendering a pair of late goals in the final 15 minutes of the match. Sebastian Venegas found Pierre Bocquet with a pass into the left side of the box to move MSU up 3-1 and the Greyhounds allowed an own goal off a corner kick in the 83
rd-minute.
