PORTALES, NM — With just 5:09 to play, Ariel Lopez fired a picture-perfect through pass to Mirka Zamarripa, who beat UT Permian Basin goalkeeper Chenoa Crites from five yards out. The goal was all the Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team (3-7-4; LSC 2-4-2) would need in a 1-0 Lone Star Conference win, Sunday afternoon at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.

"Lopez played hard," Head Coach Ryan Spence said. "She's got vision that a lot of people don't have. For about 20 minutes (late in the second half) it was physical and back and forth, but the red card opened it up for us. It was our first goal in six games."

Senior defender Erin McAnarney was honored before the game. McAnarney has been a valuable defender on the soccer team since 2014. She has played in 48 games and was a key member of the 2014 team which won nine matches and allowed just 1.52 goals per game. Erin made her Greyhound debut on September 4, 2014 against Western State and scored the first goal of her career in 2015 in a win over Texas A&M-International.
