TUCSON, Ariz. – The Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team matched up with NCAA Division I powerhouse and third-ranked Arizona on Wednesday night at the McKale Center. The Greyhounds dominated the offensive glass, pulling down 17 boards to just seven by the Wildcats in a 91-63 setback.
 
In the first half, ENMU held a 19-13 edge on the glass, including a 10-2 advantage on the offensive end over the Pac-12 preseason favorite. The Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Preseason First Team All-American, Allonzo Trier was limited to just 10 points, two rebounds and four assists by the Hounds' defense.
 
Senior forward Jamani Pierce led ENMU with 15 points while senior wing Shawn Shelton tacked on 12 and junior guard Maurice Coleman put up 11 on 4-of-6 shooting. Senior guard Lamarquis Thompson was a big part in ENMU winning the battle on the offensive glass as the Houston native grabbed four offensive boards and six overall to lead the team while also producing eight points and a pair of dimes. Freshman guard Devin Pullum came off the bench and scored seven points and had three assists.
 
The Green and Silver were unable to overcome the Wildcats' 61% shooting on the night. Arizona's Deandre Ayton, a Preseason Third Team All-American and projected NBA Draft lottery pick, led all players with 31 points on 13-of-16 shooting while also grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. Going into the break, the Hounds were within striking distance, down 47-31, but the depth of the Wildcats allowed Zona to pull away in the second half.
