PORTALES, NM — Lamarquis Thomson paced four members of the Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team in double figures with 13 points and four assists. The Hounds trailed eighth-ranked West Texas A&M by just 11 points at halftime, but the Buffaloes pulled away for a 99-69 victory in Lone Star Conference action at Greyhound Arena. The contest was sponsored by Dr. Peter L. Thompson, DDS.

- Andre Hughes scored the first basket of the game as ENMU opened on a 6-3 run
- The Buffaloes responded with a 10-2 surge to take a 13-8 lead with 14:04 left in the half
- After The Hounds cut the deficit to one, WT pushed their lead to seven points on three occasions, the second coming with 9:32 on the clock
- Jamani Pierce followed with a trey and ENMU had back-to-back buckets from Maurice Coleman and Thompson to tie the game at 24-all with 8:04 left in the half
- The teams traded baskets for the next few minutes, before a three-point play from David Chavlovich gave the Buffaloes the lead for good and sparked a 10-2 run

- The Greyhounds held a 20-12 edge in points off turnovers for the game
- WT enjoyed a 13-7 lead in second chance points
- WT held a slim 37-35 advantage on the boards, although Eastern finished with a 10-9 lead on the offensive glass
