First Place Greyhounds Set for Final Regular-Season Road Trip

PORTALES, NM — With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (18-5; LSC 14-2) holds a two-game lead atop the Lone Star Conference standings. This week, the Greyhounds will make their final road trip of the regular season.

Tipoff Midwestern State is set for 4:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, followed by a 1 p.m. start time on Saturday at Cameron.

The Greyhounds are on a two-game win streak and have won four of their last five contests. The Greyhounds already have posted their most wins in a season (18) since going 23-5 in the 1992-93 season. The squad's 14 conference wins also eclipsed the previous program best of 12, which had been accomplished in two other seasons. Eastern's 10 home victories are the most since going 10-4 at Greyhound Arena in the 2006-07 season.

Kassandra Harris leads the Hounds with 11.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Mikaehla Connor is right behind with 11 points per game and a team-best 78 assists. Daeshi McCants shares the rebounding with 6.0 per game. McCants has three of the teams' five double doubles this season, while Harris and Connor each have one.

Josh Prock is in his fourth season as head coach of the Greyhounds and has a 47-63 record at ENMU.

In the Series with Midwestern State
Eastern is 17-27 against Midwestern State, with a 6-15 road record. Eastern's last road win in the series was a 73-63 decision on February 25, 2006, with Tiana Bryant leading the way with 27 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists. The Mustangs have won nine straight home games against ENMU.

The Greyhounds are on a two-game win streak in the series, with home wins this season and last. Earlier this year, ENMU picked up a 78-64 win over the Mustangs on the strength of 15-point efforts from Kassandra Harris and Mikaehla Connor.

Midwestern State will enter Thursday's contest against the Hounds with a 7-15 record and a 4-12 mark in LSC play. The Mustangs are coming off an 85-54 setback at West Texas A&M, but have split their last four games.

Noel Johnson is in her ninth season as head coach at Midwestern State. She has a record of 125-121.

In the Series with Cameron
Eastern is 21-14 against Cameron, with a 6-10 road record in the series. Last season, the Hounds rallied from a 15-point deficit to pull even, then trailed by another 15-point deficit, before they won on Sarah Stinnett's jumper with 10 seconds left. The 72-69 win snapped a five-game skid in road games against Cameron.

Cameron has a 9-13 overall record with a 7-9 mark in league play, and will host Western New Mexico on Thursday. The Aggies are coming off a road win over University of Texas of the Permian Basin and boast a 4-3 record at home. Last month, the Aggies swept a key home stand against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce.

 Emma Andrews is in her first season as head coach at CU and has a record of 9-13.

The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team will conclude the regular season with a two-game home stand, next week. The first game will be on Thursday against Angelo State, with a Saturday afternoon contest against Texas A&M-Kingsville, to follow.
