ODESSA, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team utilized a strong offensive game en-route to a 15-6 rout in the season finale on Sunday in Odessa. The Greyhounds improve to 32-18 overall and 10-12 in Lone Star Conference play. The 32 wins are the second-most in ENMU history and ranks as the second-best turnaround in NCAA Division II since 1998.

Alex DeLaCruz went 3-for-4, coming a single shy of the cycle. Additionally, the Freeporty, NY, native drove in six and scored two runs and added a pair of walks to pace the offense.
Garlind Webster finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles and an RBI.
Scott Klein tossed 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 5-4.

Much like the earlier games in the series, the Greyhounds were able to manufacture a strong start, striking for three runs in the top of the first.
Zach Shank led things off with a single to right and
Alex DeLaCruz worked a walk. A groundout to second advanced both runners into scoring position.
Garlind Webster legged out an infield single to score the first run before
Jesus Villalobos walked to load the bases.
Chris Padilla beat out an infield single and a walk to
Gabriel Vargas brought home Webster to give the Hounds a commanding lead early.

Following a solo home run by the Falcons in the bottom of the second, Eastern wasted no time in getting the run back. Webster led off the inning with a triple off the wall in right and scored easily on a dying-quail single from Villalobos, increasing the lead to 4-1. Padilla wore a pitch and Vargas walked to load the bases. Shank worked a walk to extend the lead to 5-1 before DeLaCruz promptly cleared the bases with a grand slam to the opposite field, bolstering the lead to 9-1.

After the Falcons added another two runs in the third, the Greyhounds manufactured a two-out rally to increase the lead to eight, 11-3. Vargas was hit-by-pitch to extend the inning before
Zach Smithson picked up his first hit of the season on a bunt single to third. Shank walked to load the bases, bringing DeLaCruz back to the dish. The ENMU designated hitter doubled down the left field line, scoring a pair and giving him his fifth and sixth RBI of the game.

The Hounds would continue to tack on in the fifth. Vargas roped a single to left-center to push across Villalobos and increase the lead to 12-3.

Needing a home run to hit for the cycle, Webster blasted a double that bounced high off the wall in right-center for a double in the ninth. He eventually came around to score on a groundout from Villalobos. Following a pair of hits from Padilla and Vargas, Smithson cleared the bases with a triple.

Matt Garley earned a three inning save, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
