2-1 Victory Secures Crucial Points For Hounds in Final Road Match

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Freshman Aderi Arthur-Dede scored both goals for the Eastern New Mexico men's soccer team in a crucial 2-1 victory on the road against Oklahoma Christian Saturday afternoon.

The Hounds will now return home for four straight home games looking to qualify for the Heartland Conference Tournament. Arthur-Dede scored in the 3rd and 66th minute to register his seventh and eighth goals of the season in a match in which the Hounds outshot the Eagles by a final total of 19-10.

Arthur-Dede tallied a team high three shot on goal attempts while sophomore Gabriel Peres led the way with five total shot attempts.

Eastern put the pressure on Oklahoma Christian early and often, outshooting the Eagles 11-to-1 in the first half alone on a rain soaked Eagle Field. The Hounds added to their 1-0 halftime advantage in the 77th minute with a header goal by Arthur-Dede inside the six-yard box thanks to a cross from Robert Leonard.

The Hounds were unable to maintain the shutout in the 77th minute as the Eagles finally found the back of the net, but hung on in the end to complete the 2-1 victory.

Eastern New Mexico will be back in action Oct. 18 inside Greyhound Stadium at 7 p.m. for the first of four straight home games to finish out the regular season. The Hounds are currently tied atop the West Division standings in the Heartland Conference with Lubbock Christian, and will meet the Chaps as well as third place West Texas A&M in the final two games of the regular season on Oct. 25th and 27th.
