Lamarquis Thompson's 15 second-half points paced the Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team (11-17) over the final 20 minutes of play. The effort helped the Greyhounds outscore top-seeded and 13
th-ranked West Texas A&M by 14 points in the second half. The Buffaloes (26-3) withstood a furious rally from Eastern to pick up an 86-70 win in the first round of the Lone Star Conference tournament, Friday at Kitty Magee Arena.
The contest was originally scheduled to be played at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas, but was moved due to facility issues on Thursday. The contest culminated a season which saw the Hounds win six LSC games, with a rally from an eight-point deficit in the finale, to reach tournament play.
Rally Time
- With 5:25 left in the game and ENMU trailing 76-51, Devin Pullum connected on a pair of free throws
- The points sparked a 15-4 Greyhound run
- Zach Parker capped the run with five straight points to pull ENMU within 14 points, 80-66
- After shooting .182 in the first half, the Hounds hit .500 from the floor in the second half
