Shelby Jones poured in 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team (16-12) in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The performance marked her second double double against Tarleton State (19-10) this season. The TexAnns pulled away in the second half to hand Eastern an 83-61 defeat, Friday at Dr Pepper Arena.
The Key Runs
- Midway through the opening quarter, the teams were tied at 10-all, with Jones scoring eight of ENMU's first 10 points
- At that point, the TexAnns exploded on a 12-3 run to seize a 22-13 advantage
- After TSU pushed its lead to 14 points, Sarina Johnson hit a trey to ignite a 14-5 Greyhound surge
- The Hounds pulled within five points, 36-31, on a Johnson free throw with 1:11 left in the first half
- Tarleton State came back with an 18-8 run which stretched into the third quarter as they pulled away
