ODESSA, TEXAS — Senior right fielder drove in a run for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team as the Greyhounds opened a Lone Star Conference series on Friday evening. Eastern dropped a 9-1 decision to University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

• Eastern is 16-10 overall in the series with the Falcons
• The Falcons moved to 5-2 at home against ENMU
• The loss snapped ENMU's five-game win streak in the series

• Ashley Lopez led off the third inning with a single and took second on a base hit from Courtney Vigil
• After a wild pitch, Peneku's ground ball to short plated Lopez to cut Easterns deficit to 3-1
• The Falcons sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the third and scored six runs
• After Eastern's at bat in the fifth, the game ended due to UTPB's eight-run lead
• Erikka Burke doubled for the Hounds
• Jennifer McElroy added a base hit
• Martiza Rojas tripled for UTPB, drove in three runs, and tossed a complete game
