CANYON, TEXAS —Junior outfielder
Chris Padilla homered for the eighth time this season to help the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team(14-9; LSC 0-3) build a lead over #16 West Texas A&M (21-7; LSC 3-0) for the second time in three games. The Buffaloes rallied to hand the Greyhounds a heartbreaking 4-3 setback in the nightcap of Saturday's Lone Star Conference doubleheader at Wilder Park. WT also earned a 13-1 win in the first game.
Game 2
- Zach Shank led off the nightcap with a single and moved to second on a one-out base hit from Paul Tapia
- One batter late, Shank scored on a two-out single from Alex DeLaCruz
- Padilla led off the Greyhound second inning, driving the first pitch from Darin Cook over the left field wall for a 2-0 lead
- The Buffaloes got on the board on a solo homer from Luis Amaro to lead off the fourth inning
- The Hounds capitalized on a leadoff walk to Nicholas Ankerman in the top of the fifth, and extended the lead to 3-1 when he scored on an error
- Amaro tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer
- WT capitalized on a Greyhound error in the sixth inning and took the lead on Justin Nakagawa's sacrifice fly
- DelaCruz batted 2-for-3 for the Hounds
- Enrique Perez allowed three earned runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings of work
- Cook scattered six hits over six innings for West Texas A&M
Game 1
- The Buffaloes charged to a 9-0 lead over the first two innings of the opener, plating eight runs on seven hits in the second inning
- Julian Heredia led off the Greyhound fourth with a double and scored on a throwing error later in the inning
- Blake Weaver had a three-run double for WT in the fourth inning as the Buffaloes continued to pull away
- Shank and Reynaldo Guillen both batted 2-for-4 for the Hounds
- Ryan Larison went six innings to earn the win for the Buffaloes
