Eurick Perez batted a season-best 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (16-7; LSC 2-11), Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Baseball Field. After a weather-related schedule adjustment, the Greyhounds opened their weekend Lone Star Conference series against Texas A&M-Kingsville, falling 13-7 to the Javelinas.
In the Game
- After Texas A&M-Kingsville exploded for six runs in the top of the second inning, thee Hounds responded
- Eastern sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the second and plated their first run on a single from Garlind Webster
- Perez followed with a two-run single to pull ENMU within 6-3
- The Javelinas added a pair of runs in the third on RBI singles from Manny Loredo and Will Arnold
- Arnold drove in his sixth run of the day in the fifth to give TAMUK a 9-3 lead
- A bases loaded walk to Julian Heredia plated ENMU's fourth run of the day in the seventh inning
- The Javelinas added two runs in the eighth to extend their advantage to 11-4
- Malcolm Smith's RBI single in the bottom of the inning, followed by a two-run triple from Alex DeLaCruz pulled the Hounds within 11-7
- Zach Shank scored twice and singled in the third inning to extend his consecutive-game hit streak to four
- Arnold batted 3-for-4 for the Javelinas and drove in six runs
