Hounds Win in Dominating Fashion Over Southern Nazarene

PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico women's soccer team took care of business in dominating fashion over Southern Nazarene on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 victory.

The Hounds scored four times in the second half and outshot the Storm by a final total of 27-to-6 and controlled the pace of the match for the entirety of the 90 minutes of play. Junior Samantha Fabela had a career afternoon for the Hounds, scoring a goal and recording an assist while also leading the squad with seven shots.

Freshman Kierra Diaz opened up the scoring in the 62nd minute after the Hounds produced 12 shots in the first half that couldn't find the back of the net. That goal from Diaz was followed up by a run of 10 minutes that featured goals from Anahi Hernandez, Bailey Bosley, and Fabela to extend the Hound lead to 4-0.

14 of the 27 shots for Eastern were on target as they limited the Southern Nazarene offense to just two shots in the second half and cruised to their second victory of the season.Four Hounds recorded three or more shots on the day while Tucker, Fabela, and Hernandez all recorded assists.

Eastern will get their Lone Star Conference schedule underway next Friday evening with a match scheduled against Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m.
