DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College scored a goal with just seven seconds remaining in the game to defeat Eastern New Mexico by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Hounds (2-2, 0-0 Heartland) were unable to hang on to a 1-0 lead that was provided by
Raith Houle, who scored his first goal of the season just before the halftime break in the 41
st minute. Routhe collected a rebound in the box and put away the finish in the top corner of the net.
Fort Lewis (2-0-1, 0-0 RMAC) scored their first goal of the second half at full strength in the 63
rd minute thanks to a penalty kick goal by Nicholas Perez, and then scored the game winner in the final 10 seconds of the game with the man advantage after Eastern's
Marvin Lewin was sent off with his second yellow card in the 74
th minute.
Eastern was outshot in the game by a final total of 23-to-8. Keeper
Logan Miears recorded a season-high 11 saves on 22 shots faced in the contest while midfielder
Craig Brand led the Hounds with two shots on goal. Brand was also attributed with the assist for Houthe's goal.
Eastern New Mexico will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 13 on the road in Odessa, Texas for a match set against UT-Permian Basin.
