Hounds Record Second Consecutive Sweep, Move to 2-0 In Conference Play

LAWTON, Okla. – Eastern New Mexico secured their second straight victory of the weekend with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-18) defeat of Cameron University on Saturday afternoon.

The win stands as the second straight sweep for the Hounds and pushes them to their first 2-0 start in Lone Star Conference play since 2003. The Hounds once again battled their way to a close first set victory in similar fashion to last night's match with Midwestern State, and then cruised to 25-15 and 25-18 victories in the second and third set.

Eastern New Mexico posted a season-high team attack percentage of .319 and also recorded a season-low 12 attack errors throughout the match. Junior Sarah Tuioti-Mariner recorded her second straight double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs.

The Hounds jumped out to a quick 10-5 lead early in the first set, but struggled to put away the Miners as the set moved along. Tied at 22 points apiece, the teams alternated points up to the 24-24 mark before consecutive kills from sophomore Jasmine Gannon and freshman Jaedynn Devoux handed the Hounds their fourth consecutive set victory of the weekend.

Gannon continued to lead the way for Eastern offensively with 11 kills while Devoux totaled six.

The final two sets were all Greyhounds as they built a 16-9 lead in the second set and never looked back, and then concluded the third and final set on an 8-2 run to close out the weekend with authority.

Four different Hounds posted attack percentages of higher than .300 for the afternoon in Gannon, senior Jennifer Martinez, junior Lauryn Bresnahan and sophomore Julie Tucker. Martinez led the squad with a .471 mark and recorded a season-high nine kills for the match.

Eastern New Mexico will look to stay undefeated in conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 11, during which time they will travel down to Odessa, Texas to take on UT-Permian Basin.
