Hounds Stumble in Second Half, Fall 88-84 to Aggies on the Road

LAWTON, Okla. – The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team led by many as 16 on Thursday night on the road against Cameron University, but struggled in the second half offensively to fall by a final score of 88-84.

The Hounds were held scoreless in the final two minutes of the game and shot just 35 percent (12-of-34) in the second half to allow the Aggies to work their way back into the game despite trailing 73-57 after sophomore Devin Pullum knocked down two free throws with 8:55 remaining in the game.

Pullum was one of three Hounds to reach double digit scoring figures along with seniors Arcaim Lallemand and Nick Brown. Brown connect on 4-of-8 three-point shots on the night while Lallemand corralled five offensive rebounds to tie for a team-high nine rebounds and also made 6-of-9 attempts from the field.

Eastern New Mexico was outscored 31-12 following that Pullum make from the charity stripe while making just 4-of-15 shot attempts down the closing stretch. Cameron on the other hand made all 4 three-point attempts and 7-of-10 attempts from the free-throw line to storm back and sneak away with the win on their home court.

The Hounds made just 1-of-9 attempts from beyond the three-point line during that closing stretch and committed five turnovers while attempting to fend off the Aggie comeback. Cameron took their first lead of the second half after trailing 43-42 at the halftime break at the 2:32 mark, but a Lallemand dunk just a few seconds later at the 2:07 mark but the Hounds back ahead 84-83.

Eastern was unable to make a basket the rest of the way in and salvaged away a hot start to the second half that saw them begin the half on a 14-4 run.

Eastern New Mexico will look ahead to Saturday afternoon for a match-up against Midwestern State slated for a 3 p.m. start.
