Women's Basketball Earns Well-Deserved Team Victory Over Northern New Mexico

Box Score ESPANOLA, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team is off to its first 3-0 start in 14 seasons after defeating Northern New Mexico 73-62 Wednesday night.

The Hounds trailed by 11 points early in the first quarter, their first deficit of the season, before battling their way back into the contest. Eastern's bench came up big as the reserve players were responsible for 39 of the team's total points, with nine different Hounds recording a bucket in the game while three recorded double-digit scoring figures.

Senior Natalie DeLonge knocked down every shot she put up, going six-of-six from the field and sinking a pair of free throws to lead the offensive charge with 14 points. Freshman Taylor Hall also turned in a masterful shooting performance doing most of her damage from beyond the arch. Hall converted on four of her eight attempts from three-point range, matching DeLonge's team-high 14 points.

Redshirt-freshman Natalie Stice did a fantastic job getting herself to the free-throw line, going five-for-seven from the charity stripe as she finished with 11 points and grabbed four rebounds. Senior Jasmine Williams totaled eight points on a four-of-six shooting night and also corralled a game-high nine boards.

Northern New Mexico forced 20 ENMU turnovers and efficiently turned that into 22 points while the Eagles were red-hot from deep, shooting 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from beyond the three-point line.

The Green and Silver continue to have success on the glass and corralled 44 rebounds compared to NNMC's 31. Through three games, the Hounds have totaled 145 rebounds which is the third-highest mark in all of NCAA Division II women's basketball.

The Greyhounds will now turn their attention to their Lone Star Conference opener next weekend when they travel to Canyon, Texas to face arch-rival West Texas A&M. Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. inside First United Bank Center.
