PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico softball team fell by a final score of 7-2 in the series opener against Cameron on Friday afternoon at Greyhound Field.
The Hounds (10-11, 6-7 LSC) tied up the contest in the bottom of the second at 2-2, but couldn't keep pace with a Cameron (14-10, 4-6 LSC) offense that followed up two runs in the top of the second with two-run frames in both the third and fourth innings. Senior
Kimberly Herron suffered the loss to draw her season record to 6-7 while junior
Precious Aguirre recorded the lone multi-hit game for the Hounds, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Eastern New Mexico utilized quality plate discipline and walked the bases loaded after a two-run single in the top half of the inning put the Aggies ahead 2-0. Senior

Parker Smith and rolled one over to the shortstop who tagged out Herron between second and third, but threw the ball away to allow Gary to advance by way of error and scored freshman

Elysa Rodriguez was hit by a pitch in the ensuing at bat, reloading the bases for the Greyhounds, but couldn't manage anymore offense to end the threat. The Aggies responded with three solo homeruns over the course of the next two innings to pull away throughout the final few frames.

Lauren Likes were the other Hounds to record hits on an afternoon in which the offense totaled six hits.
Eastern New Mexico and Cameron will complete the Lone Star Conference series tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
