PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico head football coach Kelley Lee and his staff put the finishing touches on the 2020 Eastern New Mexico Football Signing Class with the newest additions of Greyhound Football.

Lee and company welcomed in a talented batch of high school signees as well as nine mid-year transfers that have already joined the program for offseason workouts and spring practices. In total Eastern New Mexico football signed future Greyhounds from 13 different states and one U.S. territory in the island of American Samoa.

"We are really proud and excited to welcome this year's signing class and feel like we not only addressed some pressing needs, but added some depth at a lot of different positions." Coach Lee said, "We are bringing in a lot of kids from very successful high school programs, a lot of kids that either won or competed for state championships, and we feel like bringing in proven winners to our locker room is going to be very beneficial."

The Hounds addressed a pressing need at the defensive back position with a total of 13 signees from that position group, five of which have already joined the team as mid-year transfers. This year's class also addressed a need for depth at the linebacker and running back positions, two needs in which Lee and company used a heavy dose of in-state high school signees to address.

"In the Lone Star Conference it is crucial for us to be able to match up on the outside with the receivers we face in our league, and a lot of times those receivers are good-sized receivers, so getting some kids that we feel like can match up physically with those type of athletes was super important in this class." Coach Lee said, "We have some really quality linebackers in this class and we feel like our depth at that position is going to be a strength for years to come and we feel like a lot of those guys that we are bringing in to play linebacker can help us out early in their careers on special teams, which is always important."
