Football Finishes Home Slate With Angelo State On Saturday

PORTALES, NM - The Eastern New Mexico football team wraps up the home portion of its schedule this weekend with a 4 p.m. contest against Angelo State University in Greyhound Stadium on Saturday. 

Fans are encouraged to get to the game early to enjoy tailgating, the Dawg Walk, and performances by the Greyhound Sound Marching Band leading up to the start of the contest. 


SENIOR SALUTE

• Prior to Saturday's game, the Greyhounds will honor eight seniors for their contributions to the team. Seniors being honored include: Bailey Adair, Kelon Ferdinand, Zachery Fields, Vili Fisiiahi, Rakeem Hatchett, Justin Manyweather, Currie Thomason, and Vicen'te Walker. Senior Day activities will begin 25 minutes prior to kickoff. 


HOUNDS' LAST TIME OUT

• The Greyhounds are coming off a 44-21 loss to the University of Texas Permian Basin on Saturday, October 23.
Nathan Valencia finished the game 12-26 passing for 95 yards.
Martavius Dill led the way in receiving yards with 44 on five catches. Justin Manyweather also finished the game with five receptions.
• On the ground, Russell led all players with 168 rushing yards. He averaged 6.5 yards per rush throughout the contest.
• Defensively, Camron Pitcher Jr. had seven tackles, while Vicen'te Walker was close behind with six.


SCOUTING THE RAMS

• Angelo State University enters the weekend with a 6-2 overall record and 2-2 mark in LSC play.
• Last weekend, the Rams picked up a 51-10 victory over Simon Fraser University.
• The ASU defense held an opponent to under 40 yards rushing for the second week in a row as SFU tallied 39 yards on 27 attempts on the ground.
• Nathaniel Omayebu III finished the game with 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns while Alfred Grear ended with 100 yards and a score.
• Hunter Kyle led the defense with seven total tackles while Tre'Darius Colbert finished with six tackles and a sack.
• Overall on the season, Kellen Pachot is averaging 69.25 receiving yards per game with 554 total yards and four touchdowns.
• Defensively, Hunter Kyle has 52 total tackles in eight games played.


AROUND THE LSC

• Midwestern State tops the Lone Star Conference standings as the only unbeaten team at 4-0 in league play. This week's schedule includes four LSC games.
• LSC football teams are 33-28 overall this season. The squads are 7-5 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
•The eighth round of LSC Football Players of the Week were announced earlier this week. Miklo Smalls of Texas A&M-Commerce was named Offensive Player of the Week, Dee Walker of Texas A&M-Commerce was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Dominique Ramsey of Texas A&M-Commerce was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
